SQL Server Access Control and Security

You perhaps cringe at the sight of this topic but one of the things that has changed over the years is the way we handle security in SQL Server.   This session will start off with some basics for those unfamiliar with access control in SQL Server and we will look at the different layers of security and the granularity of access control you can have.  We will also touch on some topics such as Impersonation and Delegation, as well as look at some functions that you may not be aware of.  And of course we'll take a peek at what SQL Server 2016 has in store for us.  Bring your questions!

Richard Baumet

Has been working as a DBA for RBC Global Asset Management Inc. for the past 15 years.  Along those years he has presented at the local Chapter as well as other technology conferences.  He has been a PASS Chapter leader since 2007 and has assisted with SQL Saturdays in Vancouver.  He is an avid cyclist and likes his coffee.  Current riding for the Ride to Conquer Cancer so if you care to donate to his page it would be most appreciated! http://www.conquercancer.ca/site/TR/Events/Vancouver2016?px=1935506&pg=personal&fr_id=1573
